Week 6 (Mar. 2) Reflections

In the past couple weeks, I research on South Carolina Virtual School Program (SCVSP) and South Carolina Virtual Charter School( SCVCS). When I first encounter SCVCS and SCVSP, I feel that both websites are informative and promising. I would personally want to go to both schools. After further investigation, I start to distinguish differences between two. The followings are two biggest differences interest me.

Instructional Design- SCVSP use Moodle and screencast.com/Jing, which is a video recording of what teachers want to explain or teach (similar to traditional classroom; just that you don’t see teacher’s face). Whereas SCVCS use Flash software presenting digitalized textbooks like lessons. There are not too many activities or interactions. They present facts and students learn the subject matters by reading lot of texts.

Community- SCVCS provide a family-like community atmosphere. They have monthly meeting, field trips, and picnics. Whereas SCVSP runs more like public-school, which it is, type of community.

  1. It's good that you have such a nice contrast, and I am pleased that the differences have gradually become clearer.
